For my Birmingham folks: this place is a cross between The Bright Star and Fife's. Good down home eats in a classy setting. I went on a Thursday afternoon and there was no wait for seating. Our server was very pleasant and helpful when I had trouble making up my mind as to what to get. I ordered the fried salmon patties. They came with some type of dipping sauce that was pretty good. The Mac and cheese was tasty as well. My date liked his fried chicken but noted that he had probably been sitting out and had not been cooked to order. Overall, I came for the experience. It was good food, at decent prices, but honestly, I've had better. If I go back when I'm in Atlanta, I'll try something different.
I absolutely love this place and have yet to be disappointed by anything I’ve tried off the menu. The chicken fried chicken is always a safe bet for dinner but I’ve also tried the slow cooked roast beef, the pork roast, and fried chicken— never have been disappointed! You receive complimentary cinnamon rolls (YUM) and cornbread with your meal. In additional the staff are so friendly and the waiters are always prompt and welcoming. I always bring friends and guests visiting from out of town to his restaurant because it is so amazing. This place never disappoints.
This is a restaurant my family has frequented for many years now and will continue to do so well into the future. The food is great and while it seems as though they are always busy, they always seem to have a place to seat you. They do take reservations so if you are coming in with a party be sure to call in advance. I’ve never had anything disappointing to eat here nor have I heard anyone else say they have. It is most certainly worth a visit if you are looking for a quality southern dining experience.
I have yet to find (nor likely ever will find) a place that is more quintessentially Southern and representative of Atlanta than Mary Mac's. Any time I have guests from out of town, this is where I will take them. The building and atmosphere are a perfect blend of historic and modern with plenty of room that somehow still feels like an intimate family gathering. The impact of the staff that makes this place run can certainly never be overstated as they have always been timely and full of that southern charm people have come to expect around here. And that's all before you're served with the tastiest, heaping helpings of Southern food you'll find this side of your grandma's Thanksgiving buffet. Don't tell grandma, but it might be even tastier...
Oh my I have so many good things about this restaurant. From the time we walked in was greeted with kindness. Such a beautiful atmosphere. From the decor too the pictures on the wall. The food was 100 percent delicious. Whomever is cooking is a top notch chef. They give you more than you can eat. We had too take half home. Mar Mac's Tea Room is the best if you're ever in Atlanta make sure you dropped in you will not be disappointed.
